WHAT WE DO

We design award–winning architecture. We create built environments that enhance their surroundings by complementing the landscape. We pay attention to cost, environmental impact, sustainability, and good design principles. But our clients always come first.

Our goal is to understand client wants and needs and create spaces for every facet of their lives: places to gather with family, retreat to nature, entertain friends, rest and rejuvenate in comfort, and enjoy the energy and trends of an urban setting.

Creating architectural environments that are uniquely tailored to our clients’ needs and lifestyles is our primary concern.  It’s also what we do best.

WHO WE ARE

In business for more than a decade, John Harrison Jones Architect is recognized as a full-service professional design firm that produces distinctive architecture that responds to the environment and achieves client goals.

Our clients are diverse; our work is artful, contextual and sustainable. Commissions are primarily custom residential and commercial projects with an emphasis on creativity and innovation.

Through close client contact, attention to detail, and a full-range of services, our studio focuses on problem solving and personal attention to each project.

Located in the South Main Arts District of Downtown Memphis, the firm’s three talented designers have received numerous awards and honors, including awards from the Memphis Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); AIA Tennessee; AIA Gulf States Region; Memphis Landmarks Commission; and the University of Arkansas School of Architecture.

HOW WE PRACTICE

Our approach to all projects includes a thoughtful assessment of environmental, social, cultural, historical, and regional traditions. Projects are primarily influenced by environmental context and client input.

The firm is organized as a traditional architectural studio that fosters relaxed, convivial interaction. In order to better communicate ideas with clients, the studio uses digital drawing tools, computer graphics, and hand-crafted renderings and models.  Project management and design resources such as requirement checklists, design and product library, and budget spreadsheets allow for the clear expression of client visions, program needs and project goals. Encouraging client participation in the process with frequent progress reviews and critiques ensures greater confidence in the work, better client relationships, and success in the final product.

Our approach considers every aspect of design and construction. In so doing, we are able to deliver a cohesive and thoroughly conceived product that meets program requirements, budget specifications, and design and contract needs.
